There is NO difference. Lab is short for labrador retriever. Unless BOTH parents have papers to prove lineage, and without an expensive blood test, there is no way to tell 100% if it is full-blooded.

No difference, just two different names for the same dog

He’s more like… 3/4 Lab, and 1/4 Golden Retriever. Golden Retriever’s and Labs aren’t THAT different, although they are different. You might as well just call him a lab though.
Labrador Retrievers, and Labs are NOT the same thing! A Labrador Retriever is a dog that was originally crossed between a Lab and a Golden Retriever, and it now is a very popular breed.
EDIT: Whoops! My bad. I wouldn’t have jumped to a conclusion so fast, yet I was looking through something the other day, and on the same page, there was a “Labrador” and a “Labrador Retriever” I made a mistake, sorry people. Haha

a lab is a labrador retriever. Are you sure you are not talking about a GOLDEN retriever? Check out a dog breed book for pictures etc. on dog breeds

A lab dog works in a labratory in a white coat! Ha ha, just kidding. There is no difference. Lab is just short for Labrador Retriever.

Umm.. a “lab” is supposed to just be a short name for the “labrador retriever”.. unless you have papers though, I wouldn’t call him a purebred.. unless he ends up looking just like a labrador. I only say this because a lot of people call their dog a “lab” when they do look like they are part labrador but not all the way, and they don’t know what else in in the dog.. so they call him/her a “lab”. But.. chances are he is probably a full blooded lab, because labradors are the highest number registered dog in the country. Not to mention, everyone knows what you are talking about when you say “I have a lab/labrador/labrador retriever” .. lol. If he is a solid chocolate brown/black or yellow.. then he is probably full blood. If he/she has any white spots or a dis colored tounge, then no, he/she is not a full blood.
Hope that helps!

No difference. Labs are labradors and both bark very loud, so consider your neighbors’ before letting it bark too much.

Lab is just short for saying Labrador Retriever. If the mum and dad had AKC papers to PROVE their bloodlines, that’s the only way to know whether your pup is purebred.

Lab is a nickname just like Sheltie is nickname for Shetland Sheepdog
